UPDATE @ 21st December 2011: Due to overwhelming demand Dragon’s Den is now sold out. Those companies who have been chosen to enter The Dragon’s Den will be notified early in the New Year.
Dragon’s Den is a concept that originated in Japan as a series of reality television programmes featuring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to secure investment finance from a panel of high net worth individuals. For the purpose of Swiss Mobile Basecamp 2012 we’re going to give it a little twist!
The start-up deemed to show the most ‘potential’ will win 2x entrance tickets worth €699 each to Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona plus several other great prizes including a new Windows Phone from Nokia, a new iPhone 4S, a ticket to ‘Bubble over Barcelona‘ on the 29th Feb, 1 year subscription to Museeka Premium worth CHF190, and half a day of coaching from The Coul Room.
The Dragons will be drawn from the speakers from the morning session – as well as the workshop hosts and additional participants from Google, HTC & Swisscom.
How Dragon’s Den will work @ Swiss mobicamp:
Round 1: Up to 10 start-ups will be selected* by an independent panel ahead of the event and invited to pitch their mobile product or solution to the audience and The Dragons. Each presenter will use a shortened version of the Pecha Kucha presentation methodology for 3 minutes. The presenter will also be asked questions and judged by The Dragons for a further 3 minutes. Only half of the start-ups who pitch will be selected to go through to Round 2.
Round 2: Those selected from Round 1 will be quizzed about their company, business model etc by The Dragons for 5 minutes each with 2 start-ups chosen to contest the final.
Final: The 2 finalists will deliver a final company pitch of 2 minutes each followed by a Q&A – with the audience & The Dragons voting on the winner.
*All companies registering to attend the event and purchasing a “Mobicamp for Start-Ups” ticket are invited to apply to enter Dragon’s Den. Simply add “The Dragon’s Den” option as part of the registration process (it’s free!) and further details will be sent directly to you. Applications to enter the Dragon’s Den must be submitted no later than 18:00 CET on Weds 21st Dec 2011.
