The highly acclaimed Swiss Mobicamp initiative was founded by Martin Coul after leaving Skype following the acquisition by Microsoft and relocating to Switzerland towards the end of the summer of 2011. The idea for the inaugural event that was held on Jan 18th 2012 resulted from an observation following Martin’s numerous conversations with Swiss CEOs, venture capitalists, angel investors, lawyers, academia, aspiring entrepreneurs and coaches.
Utilizing his background in mobile, Martin began exploring ways to contribute to the success of companies involved in mobile across Switzerland and leverage his global industry contacts to make a tangible difference. He shared his ideas and concept with Jean-Pierre Vuilleumier and the Innovation team at Swisscom. Both were early and enthusiastic supporters and the Swiss Mobicamp initiative was born. Initially conceived as a one off – the inaugural event was delivered on a shoe string budget in true start-up fashion in less than 90 days.
Swiss Mobicamp is primarily aimed at executive and senior management from SMEs and startups involved in mobile or looking to develop mobile products and solutions. Investors looking to improve their dealflow and learn more about the mobile ecosystem, and employees from larger companies who want to understand the dynamics of this ecosystem and network across the Swiss mobile scene, are also invited to attend and participate.
